Red Rock Canyon and Blakiston Falls

Road to Red Rock Canyon

The first picture is of Bellevue Mtn. (2112m). I believe that the 2nd picture was looking at Ruby and Blakiston mountains.

Red Rock Canyon Hike

The "canyon" isn't really that big. The hike is short but you can get an appreciation for how water can wear it's way thru soft rock given lots of time. These pictures were taken around 7:30 am.

Blakiston Falls

The hike to the falls was the only hike in my three weeks for which I wore bug netting as the mosquitoes were out in force. The hiking trail continues well past the falls and you can turn it into a 25km loop by returning on the Showshoe Trail. During my stay I was told that snow and deadfall were blocking the trail around the Twin Lakes.
