Bed Workshops - 2001

The first workshop was held in March, 2001. I presented all the bed designs I had found on the web. We discussed the pros and cons of each. Everyone then decided on a design and we worked on plans. Once everyone had plans, we worked on a shopping list.

When it had warmed up in April, we had our first hands on workshop in my garage. I talked about the tools I had available and went over shop safety, especially safety glasses. Here is Roger of Blackmoore using the drill press to make the mortises in his corner posts.

Here are Connie and Catalina D'Oro measuring and drilling. (Measure twice, cut once!)

Here are Robin MacLaren and Zack Wolfhunter getting ready to cut some corner posts.

Unfortunately, unexpected business interposed and I had to spend 4 weeks on business trips in May and June. Fortunately, everyone had learned enough and went on to finish their beds on their own. The trips ended up curtailing my bed plans as well, and I settled for a simple design, as I was running out of time to get ready for Pennsic. To see the completed beds, go on to the next page.
