Subject: another bio

okay, i'm going to add my bio: my name is Kendra Van Cleave. i'm a
sophmore at mills college (oakland, ca). i've been interested in
historical costuming since i was about 16. i started out with the usual
altering of modern patterns, etc., and have since started researching
and designing my own costumes. my principle periods of interest are
elizabethan england, victorian england, and californio (19th c.
california). recently, i have become interested in roccoco france, late
18th c. rural new england, and late 19th c. america. i work at the
northern renaissance faire, and have made numerous elizabethan costumes
for myself and others there. aside from actual costuming, my main
interest is in historical dance (mainly elizabethan country dance, and
victorian ballroom, but i would like to expand that). i probably won't
post much, just lurk here. :)

Greetings to Diane Close and the other members of this news list!

I am known mundanely as Tonie Witherspoon, and in the SCA as Lady
Rhianwen Morgaine ferch Aelhaearn. I've been playing in the SCA off and
on for nearly 20 years now, starting in the Barony of Caerthe, and
ending up here in what used to be known as the Shire of Kedron Vale
(Cedar City, Utah) My persona is 14th century Welsh, and I have a
penchant for early Tudor costumes, and Middle Eastern garb <go figure...
*grin*>... At any rate, sorry, Diane, for taking so long to get on
here... between work and my network addiction, I've been pretty tied up
:)

For those of you in the SCA, I'd like to introduce you to MedievalNet.
This is a Fido-compatible network of some 80 systems across the U.S. and
Sweden, that caters to discussions relating to medieval re-creations.
There are separate echos available for Costuming, general Arts &
Sciences, Calligraphy and Illumination, Brewing, Winemaking, Fighting,
Armoring and Weaponry, and SCA-related discussions. I am currently
copying some of the pertinent messages in this news list into the
MedievalNet Costuming echo (thanks Diane!), but would like to see more
interactive message traffic there... MedievalNet is a fledgling net,
but is growing quickly, and message traffic is starting to look great!

To access MedievalNet, you need a PC with a modem, a terminal program,
and the phone number of the nearest bulletin board system that carries
the net. The first two you need to provide yourself. I can set you up
with the term program (if you don't have one), and the phone number for
a MedievalNet system near you. All you have to do is e-mail me at
witherspoon@cc.suu.edu...

Thanks again, Diane, for running this wonderful news list!
