The Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario is a
well known destination for canoeing as well as day hiking, backpacking and mountain biking.
Algonquin Trips
Day 0 Sainte-Marie on the Hurons
Day 1 front country Tea Lake campground site 28 hike along beach and road
Day 2 Smoke lake access canoe to Ragged Lake, paddle around, camp just
west of the island paddle around Parkside Bay and West Bay
paddle to ragged lk about 10km
about 10km to end of Bonchere lk with portages
Day 3 cross Ragged Lk, portage 590 to Big Porcupine, P200m to Bonnechere
Lake, P175m to Phipps Lk with an extra 200m of portage, then rain - turn
back
Day 4 portage to Big Porcupine, portage to Little coon Lk, hike part way
2505m to Dividing L (little used, some bugs)
Day 5 and 6 (Aug thur 23/ Fri 24)
paddle out of Ragged lk, hike to Provoking Lake past Lake of Two Rivers
Mew Lake Campground via Highland Trail: bad lookout, Track and Tower
Trail, river and falls, Tower Bike Trail, fork, left to "Panoramic view
of Starling Oak and west end of Lake of Two Rivers, right to campsite on
Provoking lake, 3.8km to fork, aprox 0.8km to last campsite, aprox 0.7km
hike from fork to Panoramic view
