This was a different vacation. If at first you don't succeed then
redefine success!
Clearly we were not going to be going on 3+ hour
hikes with the kids in back-packs so the goal of the trip became smaller
peaks (<= 400m) with trip times of no more than 90 min. between times
that the kids get out and walk around. Also - the higher elevations
(Mt. Washington, Mt. Aerosmith, Strathcona Park (Forbidden Plateau))
were still buried in snow and camping was ruled out due to the massive
amount of gear would would have to fly with.
Saturday, June 12th, 2004: arrived at Comox at 10:30am.
Sun. June 13th - visited family in Nanamio
Mon. Jun 14th - Parksville area -
Hiked Notch Hill and another hike to Hidden Lake. We also took beach pictures.
Tue. Jun 15th - Parksville area -
walked and played at beach with kids
Wed. June 16th, Victoria area - drove to Goldstream Prov. Park, hiked Mt Finlayson
Thu. June 17th, Victoria area - East Sooke, Devonian Park, didn't find Mill Hill park
Fri. June 18th, Victoria area - Bear Hill, Malahat highway pictures, drove to Parksville
Sat. June 19th, Vancouver area - Harbor Lynx to Vancouver, Golden Ears Prov. Park - Falls hike, stayed with family
Sun. June 20th, Vancouver area - visited family, Golden Ears Prov. Park - Lookout hike
Mon. June 21st, Vancouver area - visited friends, hiked around airport area
Tue. June 22nd, Vancouver area - hiked around airport area, flew home
