Columbia Ice Fields (Alberta) Vacation Pictures

Here are some views from the highway just before the Icefields.

Don't let the small-seeming size of this glacier fool you.
In the first picture you can barely see cars in the parking lot. There is a road going upto to the glacier (on the left side I believe) for the very large tour buses with special wheels. A wide hiking trail is visible around the middle of the glacier. The close-up pictures of the glacier were taken from there.

In some pictures you may notice signs; or the backs of signs. The glacier has been in retreat for quite a while and many years ago (turn of the century?) it was all the way down by the big visitor center that is visible in some pictures.
