We didn't go up the tower - but I took pictures from Toronto Island and the base using my new Sony camera.
Since my 1977 trip there is now a walkway that pretty well takes you from the train station to the CN tower. Many of these pictures were shot thru the glass walls.
Here is the CN - look up, wayyyyy yup.
We had some fun getting up the tower - the elevator stoped a bit short of the top and we spent perhaps 5 to 10 minutes just sitting there - waiting for someone to fix up the elevator.
Along the way we discovered that during the last big power outage the CN Tower had no issues because they've got enough generators to get everyone down. Eventually we got to the top and then a security guard pulled us aside. There was a bunch of confusion; but in the end a manager came and gave us an apology about the elevator leaving us suspended and offered some compensation. We choose to get the full access ticket - which our kids loved. Our kids didn't like the views from up high - but they did like the motion ride and CN Tower movie - they did NOT go on the glass floor!
Here is the glass floor.
This is as high as you can go as a regular visitor.
This is Fort York
From the CN Tower we walked north to the ROM.
A very wierd building built above another building. The aliens have arrived?
I'm an engineer. I look at this and think - wierd angles, wasted space, energy inefficient. Personally it's an assult on the eyes; but I'm a utilitarian sort of guy.
Here is the Toronto, the year after it was built.
