Camera Issues

My one year old Sony DSC-WX50 failed to impress with what looked like battery issues again. The solution was to unplug the battery and re-seat it (ideally with some paper to push it into the camera to make electrical contact). I'm not wasting my money sending it back for repair again.

Car Performance

This trip was done with de-powered steering. I cut the power steering belt and sucked out much of the fluid, for our 2005 Toyota Echo, just before the trip. The trip was pretty well highway driving and we achieved 5.26L/100km over 6538km using 340.6L
Some rough calculations. At 33kWh/US gallon, engine efficiency of 20%; then 1L/hour = 2.2hP and 1hP = 745W. The car is about 0.55L/hour idling with power steering vs 0.5L/h without.
Unfortunately I could not compare our milage with power steering to that withing because I used our oversized winter tires, from the previous car, for the trip (trying to wear them out) while in previous years I used tires of a different size in previous years. The fuel savings, if they exist, can not be teased out from the usual variability I get from one tank to another.
