Now this was a part of our cycling trip to remember. It was 4 hours to get up this hill. I was on a mountain bike using 28-28 or 28-32 gears while my Brent struggled in a 39-28 gear combination. Unfortunately there was fog and cloud most of the way and we saw nothing from the top.
It was late September and we were cycling up the mountain wearing nothing but our shorts - until we made it to the top. The last 30 min. of climbing involved snow and before that slush. At the top we quickly had to put on every piece of clothing which we had. It was cold and windy.
The ride down the other side was very very cold due to windchill.
The way down involves lots of switchbacks, snow and great views.
