On the first day of skiing we went to Highlands Nordic, just outside of Duntroon. The skiing was quite nice and there was a reasonable amount of tracks.
On the roof of our car there were some nice ice crystals.
We were not that pleased with the skiing here. Primarily the trails are short. You can't go for a good 30 min. on any trail without hitting lots of cross paths and having to consult a map. They did what they could with a minimal amount of land. The best downhill run was the Turkey Shoot and then blasting down Easy Peesy (full of novices).
Well, the absolute best down-hill blast was the run down to the suspension bridge. It's not marked (for skiiers) but it's a well controlled run right down the hill - just keep shedding speed and watch out for the bottom.
:wThey have an interestsing bunch of walkways up in the tree canopy and that's visible in some pictures.
During our trip we stayed at the Red Hills Country House B&B and had a great stay.
This was a picture taken when the sun was just coming up. The camera clearly was trying to figure out what the colors were! It was bluish that time of morning.
This was our favorite skiing. It was day three and we were running out of energy as we'd not done much skiing this year. The trails were narrow, well trafficed and not track set. The skiing here is much like what we do at home.
We entered at access N by the Donation Box.
The trails upto this peak were not too bad. It looked like it might be bad going down but it was fun.
