Sept 2006 canoe trip; 4 days, 3 nights
This is a town just before Sydenham (Harrowsmith??):
It was less than 2 hours of paddling to get us to this campsite. It has a shallow, rocky (sandy in a small area) beach which was great for the kids.
This was not a very good lookout as it was obsecured by trees.
This campsite had a huge sandy beach and the campsites are widely spread from each other.
We canoed to the portage point to Doe Lake and then found the hiking trail and walked to the old mine.
We used the canoe to travel up Big Salmon Lake to campsite #4. Then we took the trail the lookout. We were not quite sure when we got to the lookout or if we made it. It's a longish lake but it only took about 1 hour of paddling to make it to the campsite.
This part of the park is quite different than the area around campsite #8 and 11. Up there we found lots of millipedes but not here. It is drier in this section with larger rocky cliffs.
