Snug Harbour Resort

In our recent trip to this area we rented our canoe and stayed at a cabin at Snug Harbour Resort

Note that these pictures were done at two very different exposures. The difference is that in one you have detail in the sky; while the other gives details in the vegetation. Oh for a camera which could do both and merge the picture!

Saturday

We drove to County Road 10 and stoped at a barely market gate which is where the Rideau Trail enters the bush.

We hiked to the viewpoint at the park boundary (SE corner), and then continued to the Feldspar mine and the Goodwin and Gahan farms (1853-1940).

When you get to this clearing you'll be in a position to find some ruins. The key to the game is to look for raspberry patches. For some reason the old barns and homes are overgrown with raspberries.

Rideau Trail hike outside of the entrance to Frontenac Prov. Park

The trail does not seem to be well used and so is a bit hard to find at times. We did about 30 minutes of trail clearing as we went thru. There was lots of deadfall - many of the toppled trees had trail markers on them! Note the people hiking on the trail in the picture below.
