After waiting an hour for the cloud to lift we gave up and we considered doing the ridge walk off of
Ben Nevis (1334m) to Carn Mor Dearg (1220m), Carn Dearg Meadhonach (1179m). We did not continue the last little
bit to Carn Beag Dearg (1010m).
The hard part of this ridge walk was having the cloud lift enough so that we could find the point where
we should descend from the peak. The walk was all large rock and slow going. The ridge was quite wide
at parts and narrow; but not exceptionally so at other parts. Perhaps the worst was the slow descent
from the saddle between Carn Beag Dearg and Carn Darg Meadhonach to the trail wrapping around Ben Nevis.
The trail is clearly visible as going to the Mountain Rescue Post in the gully.
Here is a view of the north face of Ben Nevis with the Mountain Rescue hut just visible at the bottom.
Lastly, a funky shot on the last bit of downhill. This was a very long day for us; over 8 hours and
we didn't being enough water and food. That was partly due to waiting 1 hour for the fog to clear and
taking the slower ridge on the backside as the return route.
