Eric Praetzel Vacation Pictures - Dog Canyon, Devil's Den

Near the park entrance there are two hikes. By combining them you can do both as a short day hike. ie 4 miles round trip for Dog Canyon, 6 mi for the Devil's Den or 7 mi for both.
You will want to get a detailed hiking map from the ranger station. I found the hike to Devil's Den to be confusing. I found what appeared to be a wash going south; but it was marked as not being the correct one to take.
By that point the sky was turning black and the wind was whipping dust up and it looked like a storm was going to hit. Given that I'd been hiking for 30 min. in a wash I was eager to get onto dry land before rain, and possibly a flash flood, hit.
In the end there was only light rain about 15 min. after I made it back to the parking lot.
