Island Dance !

Dancers

All details below were for the 2011 Island Dance

We're leaving them here so you can see how wonderful the Island Dances are.

Caller: Scott Higgs

Scott Higgs began dancing in college, and started teaching soon thereafter. For 25 years he has traveled the country (twenty-five states and six foreign countries) calling for contras and English country dances. Dancers characterize Scott's contras as "high-energy" and "swingy." His English dance programs span the spectrum from exuberant to elegant.

Band: Kumquat Kapers

Kumquat Kapers was formed to play for Vernal's, a Florida dance weekend, several years ago and has been one of the state's most sought-after bands ever since. The group features three veteran contra and English dance musicians: New England fiddle virtuoso Ben Bolker; flute, hammered dulcimer player, and percussionist Sarah Mitchell; and guitarist and former Squirrel, Bill Dudley. Between them, these players have starred in upwards of 30 bands!
