accumulative dance
Suggested Music: "Turkey in the Straw"
Introduction:
Figure:
(First Gent)
You take your lady by the wrist
Around the next lady with a grapevine twist,
Back to the centre with a whoa-haw-gee
And around that man you didn't see;
Join your hands and circle four,
Circle four in the middle of the floor
And on to the next.
Lead around the next lady with a grapevine twist,
Back to the centre with a whoa-haw-gee
And around the man from Tennessee,
Join your hands and circle six,
Circle six now don't get mixed
And on to the last.
Go round the last lady with a grapevine twist
Back to the centre with a whoa-haw-gee,
Go round that gent you didn't see;
Join your hands and circle eight
Circle eight till you come straight.
Sample Break:
Then it's allemande left with the old left hand.
Right to your partner right and left grand.
Hunt that rabbit, chase that coon,
Chase that pretty girl round the room.
Jump up crooked, come down straight,
Hurry up boys now don't be late;
Swing that gal with the great big feet,
Swing her a lot and do it up neat.
Repeat from beginning for 2nd, 3rd and 4th couples.
Explanation:
First gent leads his lady by the left wrist between the second couple, around the lady to the left and back into the centre. They now turn clockwise in a small circle inside the set and pass between the same couple again and around the gent to the right. All four join hands and circle once around to the left. The first gent then leads all four in a line between the next couple, and so on. Thus, they have made a figure of eight around the lady and a simple circle around the gent.
