Trane XV19 Heatpump Data

Goals

In September 2020 we replaced our high efficiency gas furnace with a Trane XV19 heatpump with 10kW electric backup heat in the TAM9 airhandler.

Costs

1. Trane XV19 & TAM9 air handler 3 ton: aprox $14.4k (taxes incl)
2. Electrical Panel upgrade to 200A: aprox $2k
3. York high-eff gas furnace: $200 / yr in gas + $270/yr gas grid connection fee
4. Trane XV19 modeled operating [heating] costs: $250/winter

First Impressions

The outside unit is exceptionally quiet - can not be heard in low heating mode.

The air handler has a low level electrical hum when in standby mode.

Energy Use

• Lennox G8 low-eff gas furnace: 380W while operating on low speed
• York GY9 high-eff gas furnace: 785W operating on low speed
• York GY9 operating : 40,000 btu/h or 11.7kW
• York GY9 : 13W standby
• York GY9 fan only : 805W (medium low 955 cfm), 650W (low, 750cfm)
• Trane XV19: 10W standby (0.04A +/- 0.01A at 240V)
• Trane XV19: 48W low speed fan (0.20A +/- 0.01A at 240V)
• Trane XV19: 1.6kW low heat mode, 12C, (6.70A +/- 0.01A at 240V)
