Coronation Arts and Sciences Display
This display will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Society with the diverse
arts of our Kingdom. Take advantage of showing the Populace your new crafts and
new interests. Keep alive the thirst for knowledge and crafts of the middle ages.

Bring the new things you've started or completed. Show the East Kingdom that you are
not just a one way medievalist.

and bring it with you on Coronation Day. If there are any questions or you'd

This is an open display so feel free to bring anything.
You will be asked to fill out a form however. We will be asking the Queen to
visit this display and choose her favorite!
A & S Competition
For those who wish to demonstrate their prowess at the gentler arts
and sciences, we will be holding an Arts and Sciences Competition.
Our theme, as befits the day, is "royalty" however all entries are welcome.
Entries will be judged on the basis of workmanship, authenticity, documentation,
and creativity. In addition to the highest scoring entries, a prize will
also be given to the piece which most creatively fits our regal theme.

Competition Details
Golden Thread Competition
The Golden Thread is a real time A&S competition for those who engage in
the needle arts. Participants will be given four hours in which to complete a
project. You should bring your own materials and supplies, however, some basic
supplies will be available on the day.
You may enter at the Novice, Craftsman, or Master levels. (These are not the
Athena's Thimble rankings). A Novice has basic skills and has never
competed
in an A&S needlework competition; a Craftsman has some skill and
understanding of period needlework; a Master has extensive skills and period
needlework knowledge.
Pre-registration, including your skill level, is desirable but not essential.
You must bring your own stitching supplies. The stipulated designs are
approximately 4x6, so plan your fabric accordingly. Your project need not be
completely finished before judging.
Documentation is not required but will be worth bonus points. It should cover
material choice and stitches chosen. Documentation should fit on a 3x5 card.
Please, no small children or music players without a headset.
Judging: In addition to the judges' awards in the three skill categories,
there will be a Populace choice award. Tokens will be available for Populace
Choice voting (and participants may vote).

Golden Quill Competition
The Golden Quill is a real time A&S
competition to create a scroll from
scratch in four hours. No reference materials will be allowed in the
competition, and it will require the entrant to produce an item which is true
to the time period which one wishes to emulate. You must use the supplied paper;
basic calligraphy and illumination supplies will be available, but entrants are
encouraged to bring their own materials.
You may enter at the Novice, Journeyman, or Master levels. A Novice has not
received a High Order of Merit for any art form; a Journeyman has received a
High Order of Merit for Calligraphy and Illumination. (If you have received a
High Order of Merit for another art form, you have a choice of Novice or
Journeyman). A Master is a Laurel in Calligraphy and Illumination. (If you are a
Laurel in another art form, you have a choice of all three levels).
Pre-registration, including your skill level, is desirable but not essential.
You must

Some emergency supplies will be available, (such as pencils and paint) but they
may not reach your own quality standards. You will have four hours in which to
create your entry. Your project need not be completely finished before judging.
