Martial Activities

Armored Combat

Let it be known that in honour of the Coronation of Andreas der Eisfalke and his most lovely lady wife Gabriella von Ulm there will be a tournament held as part of the festivities of this most auspicious of days. The Shire of Nordenhal as well as our King and Queen find donations of toys to be most pleasing. The donation of one new in package toy will be the entry fee for this tournament, as well as the price of continued participation. The shire will donate medieval toys to the crown for subsequent gifting at their whim, and the rest shall be donated to Toys for Tots.

The competition will be challenge based. Here are the rules:

- Combatants would challenge and present their proposed ransom (a toy) at the start of each bout. Note: There is no dishonor in declining a challenge.

- Combatants would decide on weapons and format of the bout, ex. 3 telling blows, 5 telling blows, traditional sca death, etc. This should be kept within reason of course.... no 20 blow bouts!

- Loser of a bout would present ransom to winner.

- Winner of a bout (who now has 2 toys) donates one. This counts toward determining the champion of the day.

- Lists will be available with barriers and without. The combatants would choose their desired list subject to availability.

- Challenges can be made as singles or as pairs of fighters.

- Combatants may continue to challenge and accept challenges as long as they have a ransom to present.

There will be two winners of this tournament, one winner being the most skilled with his weapons this day as determined by counting the number of toys donated (won in combat), and the other being the participant who has brought the largest number of toys. The Shire of Nordenhal as well as our King and Queen find donations of toys to be most pleasing. The Prize for each of the winners is two, that's right TWO beautiful hand picked rattan staves, a gift from the new King himself!

Inspections shall begin at 11:00 and will be allowed all afternoon.

Signing up with the MOL may occur at any time the lists are open. This allows fighters to join in at any time should they have other commitments.

Challenges may begin at 12:30 and continue until 4:00.

Lists shall close at 4:00.

Sparring (not for toys) can occur any time a list is available.

Youth Combat

Also this day will be a gathering of the Youth Fighters, as the opportunity for them to display their skills is also seen to be most appropriate.

Young Fighters of the East Kingdom are invited to don their finest and show off their prowess for the entertainment of all assembled. The Youth List opens at 10:00 with Division 1 running promptly at 11:00. Divisions 2-4 will test each other after a lunch break. The day will end with a demonstration of skill and finesse--a single-sword, body part bingo tourney. The fighters will face each other round robin style with winner declared when someone collects at least one head, arm, body and leg strike against his/her opponents. Dress for show (there's a prize) and be prepared to be heralded! Donation of a new, in the package toy will please Their Majesties and the Shire, but is not required for entry into the Youth Tournament.

Site

All martial activities will occur in the gym. Some space is available just outside the gym for temporary parking for drop off and pick up of equipment. Once you have unloaded, please move your vehicle to the parking lot.
