The first book, Part I, has 14 tunes in it. They are carefully chosen to teach you things one step at a time, with lots of tech practice for: The Bow, The Left Hand, Keys/Scales/Modes, Rhythm and Ear, with about 30 tracks to help you. Basic slurs are introduced really sparsely. Part II (Intermediate) has about 25 tunes. They are designed to help learn bowing and rhythm patterns (and again, many tracks to help you). Part III (Advanced) has about 120 tunes and 135 videos. It has sections on Indigenous, French-Canadian, Cape Breton, Irish and Old time, talking about the styles, ornamentation, more complicated bowing patterns, and again, lots of rhythm and ear. If you already play, Part II is often the place to jump in with exercises for off-beat accents, phrasing etc., or just go for Part III. order from: Anne Lederman |
